Probably around 2016 I met a guy at a bar, a friend of a friend of a friend, who was somewhat skittish, drank a lot of Scandinavian aperitifs, and kept mumbling about burning Japan. Even without context, that was an interesting enough proposition that I pursued it in conversation - what ever could he be talking about? By “burning” did he mean…
