My band, Worship Pain, has been partnering with Yggdrasil Brewing in Hiratsuka for a few years to make nano batches of custom beer to sell in bottle form only at our shows, and that’s been awesome. Guaranteed sold-out not even halfway through the gig.
Recently we expanded to another fermented product: hot sauce. In collaboration with Kyoto’s Habanebros, whom I consider the best Japan-based hot sauce makers around, we started making the fiery Pain Sauce in 3 flavors: Original Sin, Citrus, and Bergamot.
This is proving to be a hella good exercise in branding and sales. Beers great, but alcoholic and not overly transportable. Plus bars hate bottle form recycling reasons, and we like bottles so not great.
These li’l bottles of KICK in the teeth spice, though? 120ml of pocket power you can take anywhere. And the look on people’s faces when you pull out a bottle at a restaurant is priceless, not only because it looks cool but also because heat just emanates from the thing.
Can’t keep enough stock of it, but if you wanna try the best damn hot sauce Ive ever had, a 120ml bottle’s ¥2,500 and so worth it.
