Fire in Japan
Burrrrrn, baybeee

Jiminy Christmas I don’t know where to start but the year has already gotten away from me and I am late with posts for Above & Below. I’ll throw a bit of blame over to Kaala’s substack - which I also publish - as it’s a good bit easier than these ones to get out, though that’s by no means to say it is easy. It’s not. Just comparatively so.

Blogging… stacking?… is no joke. It requires you to know what you’re talking about, know how to talk about what you know you’re talking about, and sit down and actually do it, all while pursuing other activities, like selling weird real estate or touring with your band.

Straight up I’d say to assemble the assets of a post and then to actually write about them takes at least 4 hours to do at a level that I’d deem acceptable, so gimme some cred for that at least and subscribe.

Above & Below is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

That’s not to say I write these to get subscribers. I mean, I sorta do, but as I’ve said in previous posts and will say again here, being able to sit down and order your thoughts is a great way to compartmentalize things, give them context, and build confidence that the path you’re treading is indeed a good one.

I guess it’s just like journaling, really. At least for me. For you? Who knows, but if you haven’t tried it, give it a go.

Gotta say, politics just ain’t my game anymore. Fortunately, Tobias is around to make sense of everything for his readers, and I daresay that the whole Ishiba vs. Trump thing is, you know, probably worth paying attention to and analyzing if you’re interested in either Japanese or American politics.

Gettin’ into some weird territory here, huh!

I was sent forth from the power,
and I have come to those who reflect upon me,
and I have been found among those who seek after me.
Look upon me, you who reflect upon me,
   and you hearers, hear me.
You who are waiting for me, take me to yourselves.
And do not banish me from your sight.
And do not make your voice hate me, nor your hearing.
Do not be ignorant of me anywhere or any time. Be on your guard!
Do not be ignorant of me.

Let the Good Times Roll

This section is meant to detail what’s been on my plate of inspiration recently in the hopes that you, pleasant reader, also find something to drive yourself forward with.

And it’s also pretty, what, unique. My mind’s rolled over many things in the past few decades, done some backflips here and there, even dealt the occasional upper-cut to unsuspecting amygdalas, and that colors my taste as well as my ability to hunt it down. What you get here, as with the rest of Above & Below, is a detailed trip through my mind, which is just like yours in the sense that it can’t be replicated, and thus is a valuable source of knowledge with which to navigate the coming storm.

Which is to say, you won’t find this stuff anywhere else and it takes a bit to assemble, so if you feel like supporting all that I detail here, a kind paid subscription would be greatly appreciated.
