Got a great collection for you in this issue, and that unconscious theme thing that I identified a while back is still going strong. This time, it’s maybe not as odd as some others have been, but that’s not to say it’s not not odd; just maybe a little bit more relaxed, laid back. Folk-y, really.

Many thanks for reading this issue! This post is half-public, so feel free to share it!

Movies: The Sound of Progress

I’ve been on a massive Folk and Industrial kick lately. Partially the stuff you expect from the word “folk,” much much more focused on the really weird, esoteric, pseudo-spiritual stuff that if you were turn on at a party people would become very confused if not also uncomfortable.

Didn’t know Folk like that existed, huh? Well, watch this documentary made in the early 90’s that features some of the major players from the then-and-still bourgeoning if not downright demanding-to-exist scene.

Music: Current 93

And on the top of that list of weirdo folk artists is definitely David Tibet aka Current 93. For damn near 40 years he’s put intricate melodies to esoteric spoken treatises on the nature of the universe and everything in it, particularly (surprise!) people

This is the title track off of his new album, If a City is Set Upon a Hill, and it is great.
