EXP | Yamakita
A camper's paradise full of waterfalls and rivers and majestic views of Mt. Fuji
I first became acquainted with Yamakita 2 years ago or so when I had an akiya client request a property viewing in the area, and really liked it. Very quaint, laid back, and full of majestic vistas. Very step-out-of-time kinda place, which I’d never experienced to that extent.
But life happens and you get distracted and opportunities come up elsewhere so I never really had time to explore. Until! I attend a cello concert hosted by my chapter of The Rotary Club in Yugawara, and one of the municipal representatives of Yamakita was there, to whom I was introduced.
A few days later, I got a phone call from another member saying she wanted to have dinner with all of us to talk about Yamakita, and I excitedly accepted. At that dinner, she shared around various details on the area, and I pretty quickly just blurted out, “hold up I should just go visit you.” And she was like, “yeah totally.” And then we clinked our glasses and the decision was made.
So I get up there and it’s gorgeous. Mountains, forests, rivers, waterfalls, Mt. Fuji. Very rustic, and cozy. You’re gonna want a car, but so long as you get that out of the way Yamakita’s just a beautiful place with a very particular vibe. I’d love to see it with mist.
