EXP | Traverse City
A real culinary experience, full of farms and restaurants and wineries and breweries, Traverse City is a great spot to check out.
Alright! I’m starting to open this travel blog up a bit to destinations outside of Japan, and this issue is the first one. Where’re we going? Traverse City, Michigan over in the US. Why? Because I just visited my parents there, and the summer weather paired with the culinary experiences and outdoor activities is a real triple threat that I think a whole bunch of you lovely readers might want to keep in mind.
According to the New York Times, Traverse City’s a real hip place to go, and I guess I’d agree. Its full of restaurants, wineries, and beaches, which is an almost perfect combination. Me being me, I was looking around for the music venues and while there were some, it was mostly for theater type performances, so that was a bit lacking. But hey, can’t have everything, right?
The Restaurant: Modern Bird



Awesome spot, really enjoyed the meal, and their wine selections are quite interesting. There was this one local white wine that I didn’t bother remembering the name of despite it having a very memorable flavor profile, what I described as “Onion bagel.” That’s no joke, either, nor is the actually very fond memory I had of it - never tasted anything like it.
